I've noticed alot of changes in web design in the last 6 months. The use of jquery sliders instead of flash sliders have increased dramatically, and there is a great variety to choose from. Whats more is that you can modify them without to much effort.

Also the inclusion of social media plugins in websites. Is this the new market place?

These are all very logical progressions in web design.
